Denver Public Schools

We believe that basic Democratic principles—civic responsibility, inclusion, fact-based learning and decision-making—are critical to our schools. And that’s why we care about the Denver Public Schools Board of Education.

A few facts:

  • The Board takes on strategic planning, accountability for student achievement and advocacy for the needs of all students at every level

  • Of its seven (volunteer, unpaid) members, five are elected by voters within five regions, two are elected at large from across the city. They serve for four years, in staggered elections.

  • Denver is Colorado’s largest school district. And where Denver leads, the state often follows

The next Denver Public Schools School Board election is on November 7, 2023. Learn more here.
